The Marbella Arena Auditorium opens in Nueva Andalucía
The new Marbella Arena Auditorium has opened this August and already featured a number of popular events. Situated in the former bullring in Nueva Andalucía, the new concert venue promises to expand the entertainment options for Marbella residents and visitors alike.
The programme covers both the arts and sports, with a Muay Thai international title battle already having taken place at the arena. Desert Marine, the auditorium’s operating company, said of the inaugural event, “It is a milestone for Marbella that this championship is being celebrated here, and it gives us an international image.”
The programme was confirmed by Francisco Espinosa and Miguel Ángel Camacho, cultural producer and music programmer for Sunset Events, a company that manages the programming of concerts and shows at the Marbella Arena, and Rafael Sánchez of Grupo Teatro Goya.
According to Miguel Ángel Camacho, the agenda of events will include both national and international artists, from classical music (with shows such as the opera Carmen and the Anthology of the Zarzuela) to hip hop and electronic music. Throughout the year, the Marbella Arena Auditorium will host boxing, flamenco, world music, pop, folk, rock, jazz, soul, musicals, reggae, indie, pop and Spanish rock, Latin, singer-songwriters and children’s shows.
On 24th August there was an extraordinary show bringing together horses, music and fashion. The Spanish guitar master, Francisco Prieto ‘Currito‘ livened up the evening with a flamenco guitar and percussion performance, while horses from the equestrian show developed by Malaga’s David Cháves showcased on the catwalk with models showing the exclusive designs of international brands such as Carlos Arturo Zapata (Colombia), Johanth Chacón (Rome), Stellan Mosor (Milan), Wandkarlo Ambos (France) and Patricia Nahmad (Argentina). During the show, original designs by firms such as Dior, Balenciaga, Elio Berhanyer and Pertegaz were also modelled.
This wonderful new addition to Marbella’s cultural and entertainment scene will close in October for the second part of the remodelling work to take place. Next year, we are sure to see it being used to full capacity, and there will be many more engaging events to look forward to—right on our doorstep in Nueva Andalucía.
