Many years ago, Nordica team member Marianne Steneholm read an article about Anuradha Koirala in a magazine and was so shocked that the story remained with her. This was the story of a remarkable woman, the founder of Maiti Nepal, a non-profit organisation dedicated to victims of sex trafficking, and winner of multiple humanitarian awards including the Padma Shri award, one of India’s most prestigious, which was presented by the President of India. Marbella is one of the world’s most luxurious destinations but you’ll be pleased to know it also boasts a sizeable number of local charities too. In the town, an army of international volunteers look after abandoned pets, the disabled, the elderly, the poor, the sick and generally all of those who need a helping hand in life. Having said, that when it comes to a cause that involves someone you know, the choice is easily made. As many of you know who live in Marbella, Russell Soden has a quest to trek up the mountain La Concha 40 times in 40 days for the 40th anniversary in support of the Foundation Study of Infant Death (F.S.I.D.) so us girlies at Nordica have decided to put our walking/climbing shoes on instead of our heels and join Russell Soden in his amazing quest on Saturday the 8th of October, where we will all attempt to make it up to the top of La Concha – I am sure that this will be a sight for sore eyes but at least our hearts will be in it if not our limbs!
